What about the game?

The first Ridge Race game I played was on our local pier in the arcade, and it was brutal! At home my first experience was on the PlayStation 1 and it was less brutal due to the fact you could replay it over and over again! It was also when I discovered the NEG-CON controller which was revolutionary and if you mastered it the game was played on a whole other level.

Several decades later Ridge Racer makes its debut on the Xbox 360, and and that time I wasn’t really interested in it as there were other racing games that were in the mainstream, so as usual I skipped it, until now when its been in my collection for many years, now the opportunity arises for me to play it.

I plays as you would expect and has the familiar ‘drift mechanic’ of the Ridge racer series, unrealistic by modern drift game terms but still fun,. Lots of cars and tracks await you when you enter the game, it does run very well, its not easy but keep at it to unlock more cars and tracks and you’ll soon be hurtling out of control at very high speeds.

For me Ridge Racer 6 is very similar to its older cousins, but it is one of those pick and play titles where you can kill some time and jump straight into a race without too much fuss, and that is something that appeals to me when I need a quick gaming fix.
