What about the game?
I think for me, I skipped Red dead revolver back in my PS2 days, as the only cowboy game I remember playing was Gun, enjoyable but I never got close to finishing it. Red Dead Revolver will start you on your backstory with some introductory gameplay, which will then fast forward to a time when Red becomes a bounty hunter. I wont got into details, if your after more you can watch my video for a sample of the first stages of the game.
The gameplay is more fluid than other games in this era , this really does make a huge difference and I am a strong believer in game mechanics, story and gameplay over graphics (Red Dead has good graphics too!). seeing as I played thousands of hours on 48k Spectrum in my teens, gameplay was king, graphics were basic! Red dead plays well and as a modern gamer, its not long before your enjoying the gun fights!
As you’ll know by now I don’t review the games, no scores etc.. I simply play them and talk about if they are worth playing (for me at least), I nearly always show the first 30+ minutes of the game so that you really do experience the game fresh from the start, without all the ‘action gameplay’ in a edited video. Ever bought a game based on hype and the cover.. I have.. on lots of occasions, only to find its not your cup of tea, or its a hell of grind before it gets interesting!
I think if you like the Red Dead story and own an old Xbox, Gamecube or PS2 console – or emulation if you don’t, then Red Dead Revolver might be worth a try!
